It is perhaps the area's hippest late-night destination, a district with art-house theaters, restaurants, coffeeshops, bars and bookstores. Residents include a high number of artists, writers and other scenemakers.
Yet for all these riches, the Uptown area can't carry a tune. In the heart of a city nationally recognized for its musical tastes, the neighborhood is drastically short of live-music venues, especially when compared to the West Bank or downtown Minneapolis.
