The starting line for Monday's Boston Marathon will be no place for claustrophobics. There are expected to be more than 38,000 starters in Hopkington, Mass., for the 26.2-mile run into Boston to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the world's foremost footrace.
That number could swell to 50,000 with the influx of "bandits," or those running the course without entries. Of the registered runners, 791 (560 men and 231 women) - are from Minnesota. That's the 10th-highest state representation and a number that in a banner year represents four times the normal state entrants.
