You lose five to seven pounds in three days, 10 to 17 pounds in a week and you never feel hungry.
You consume unlimited quantities of cabbage soup - five vegetables, water and a package of Lipton soup mix - every day, and round out your meals with mostly fruits and vegetables.
But dietitians say the cabbage soup diet, the latest fad diet, is no better than most quick weight-loss plans.
"I've heard about it from tons and tons of people," said Michelle Mattison, a dietitian at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. "No hospital will ever endorse it because it isn't balanced."
