The families of the two victims of drunken driver Everett Contois said they were surprised and pleased Tuesday when he was convicted in Anoka County District Court of third-degree murder and 13 other counts.
Jeremy Carrigan, of Blaine, was killed in August when the pickup truck he was riding in was broadsided in Fridley by a car traveling more than 80 miles per hour. The crash also seriously injured Tim Helseth, the driver, also of Blaine.
Contois was trying to outrun Blaine police when the accident occurred.
