Flyball is the Indy 500 of canine competitions. At the starting line, dogs rocked back and forth in excited anticipation, their barks like the revving of engines.
At the signal "Go!" Barb Hustings patted Jet, her handsome Belgian Tervuren, on the rump, and yelled "get it." In a flash, he was off, springing over four narrow jumps. Then he stepped on a pedal that tossed a tennis ball into the air, locked his teeth around the ball and backtracked over the jumps to the finish line.
