It's time to make the hard choice: If you're still not seeing green on those brown evergreens, you should dig them out.
Clearly, winter killed them.
That's the bad news - digging out old roots is a tough, tiresome task, and replacing many large plants can be expensive.
But the good news is that there's an ample supply of replacement yews, junipers and arbor vitae (the hardest-hit evergreens) at Minnesota garden stores and nurseries.
Some of those shrubs and trees are even going on sale.
