Jessie Ayers sat on a couch in the cramped living room Saturday and talked about her younger sister Christina, who died Thursday in a triple slaying in Crystal.
"We'd gotten really close since she moved out," said Jessie, 17. "Before that we were always stealing each other's clothes and makeup."
The girls were 11 months apart. Christina was 16.
"It never stopped," said Mary Reynolds, their stepmother.
Dennis Ayers, the girls' father, smiled ruefully and shook his head. "Hey," he said, "They were sisters. . . . All I've done for the last 15 years is take care of my family, and someone just walked in and took a large hunk of it away."
