Greg LeMond studied the results of his preliminary race Saturday and turned positively giddy. For someone who has been to the top of the mountain - and come barreling down on a bicycle at speeds approaching 70 miles per hour as he did as a three-time winner of the Tour de France - LeMond still was thrilled with qualifying 26th out of 50 drivers.
After all, he had never driven a Spec Racer before Tuesday.
LeMond always has had a need for speed, but now it takes two extra wheels and power not supplied by his body to give him the same adrenaline rush he got as a world-class cyclist. He drove in the Children's Grand Prix in downtown Minneapolis in the Spec ...
