Paul R. Redpath, 71, an Eden Prairie City Council member for 12 years and mayor for two years, died of an aortic aneurysm Tuesday at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
Redpath was born in Minneapolis, where he graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1942. He served in the Army during World War II, after which he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service. Starting as a mail carrier, he worked his way up to branch manager. He retired about 1979.
But he remained active in politics. He had started as an Eden Prairie City Council member in 1967, served as mayor in 1972-73 and gained a seat on the council again in 1979. He held that post until 1986.
