After years of shuttling charters of Twin Cities travelers to Las Vegas and other popular tourist towns, tiny Sun Country Airlines is offering limited regular service in a head-to-head battle with giant Northest.
From its modest base at the Hubert H. Humphrey terminal in Bloomington, Sun Country Airlines has launched bargain charter flights to Las Vegas for more than a decade.
Having gradually added 15 jets to its original fleet of one Boeing 727-200, the privately owned airline now shuttles about 1 million passengers a year to and from the Strip from airports all over the United States.
