Richard Lewis is stalking the hallway. It's less than an hour before his appearance on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." On his way back from the bathroom, he's studying the faces of favorite guests, captured in giant framed photos that line the corridor.
Just five blocks away at the Ed Sullivan Theatre, O'Brien's predecessor David Letterman could boast a "hall of fame" with Madonna and Dan Rather. Here, on the sixth floor of the Rockefeller Center, just a flight of stairs down from the NBC commissary, it's Cyndi Lauper and Al Roker.
