1/3 Dear Genny X: My problem stems from being harassed, verbally abused and stigmatized due to the fact that I'm from a Southern state. I have found the people here to be terribly ill-mannered, not to mention undereducated about other states within the United States. Not a day goes by that I'm not harassed due to my accent. It seems people here don't realize they have one, too.
That's just the tip of the iceberg. I have automatically been presumed prejudiced toward blacks, stupid, to have grown up in a shack, to have never worn shoes and to be dating or married to a relative.
