The glamour tournament in girls' hockey is the Kaposia Invitational next weekend at Wakota Arena hosted by South St. Paul. It has six teams ranked in the Star Tribune's state top 10.
Mounds View, as a cooperative team with Irondale, played in it the past two seasons but wasn't invited back this year. "They didn't think we would be that good," Mustangs coach Sue Ring-Jarvi said. "We got beat pretty badly in it so they asked us not to come back, which didn't upset me. I know what they are trying to do to build that tournament up . . . and we were playing for the bottom spot each year."
