Needlepoint upholstery and rag rugs are hardly the expected stuff in SoHo galleries, especially when they serve neither ironic nor socially critical purposes. Kaffe Fassett is an American-born, British-based artist and designer who has developed an international following for intensely colored floral textiles that he crafts himself. He is also known for the objects and kits he has designed. In a show this past winter called "Two About Color," his works were paired with equally floral and florid dye-transfer prints by Steve Lovi, a photographer who has documented Fassett's works for several books, though the images he showed here did not involve Fassett. ...
