A new analysis of Edward Hospital's request to build a heart hospital in Naperville recommends the state veto the proposal.

The proposed $81 million project will come before the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board on June 1 in Chicago.

Edward is asking the state to approve a scaled-back version of its original heart hospital proposal, which failed to win enough votes from the board in January.

After the board questioned the scope and cost of the project, Edward reduced the number of beds in the heart hospital to 43 from 71.
