Social Security Is for Everybody
On December 31, Americans on Social Security received a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) of 4.2 percent. This was only their due under the law, yet it represented a triumph of truth and fair play over a campaign of disinformation and bias involving virtually all the media.
There was a serious push in the media for a freeze or a lid on the COLA, but no public debate. News reports, editorials and commentaries concluded unanimously that cowardly politicians had finally bowed to an affluent "special interest," the elderly, in a greedy grab that would worsen the budget deficit.
