VINTAGE VIOLINS GROW SCARCE
Jay C. Freeman, violin expert for Lyon & Healy complains of a scarcity of product in Europe. "Instruments of genuine quality are growing scarce. There are good ones in the hands of musicians and local collectors, but the prices demanded are prohibitive ... There is such a keen demand for old instruments, and so many people know it that the moment the owner of an old violin discovers his customer is a collector, he thinks he has but to name his own price for it."
