NEW YORK -- Concerned about side effects from prescription and other drugs and driven by the growing movement toward self-medication, consumers are turning to homeopathic remedies and other forms of alternative and complementary medicines in greater numbers than ever before.
As a result, says Jay Borneman, president of Hyland's Inc., homeopathic remedies that were once relegated to the back shelves of chain drug stores and other retail formats can now be found in conventional over-the-counter sections -- a development that has helped to spur sales of other O-T-Cs as well.
