KAMPALA, Uganda, June 13 (UPI)
Burundi police and army reports Tuesday said an estimated 5,000 armed Hutu rebels from Tanzania were heading for the southern Burundi province of Makamba Province.
The Burundi news agency quoted sources as saying although they could not confirm the final destination of the armed militia they were traveling on trucks toward the Tanzania-Burundi border "shouting bellicose slogans for war and for democracy."
The Burundi army has not yet taken steps to reinforce in the wake of the reports on the rebels, the news agency said.
