Nine months ago, we never heard of Standard MEMS, Inc., and today the company is emerging as the "600 pound gorilla" in the MEMS industry. On May 31, 1999, the combination of Standard Microsystems Corporation's Foundry Business Unit (FBU) with the operations of privately held Intertia Optical Technology Applications, Inc. (IOTA) was completed. The combined businesses now operate as Standard MEMS, Inc. (Burlington, MA, 781-270-0900) (www.stdmems.com).
