The economic performance of member countries of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) showed wide variations during 1999, influenced by continued strong growth and low inflation in the major markets of the U.S. and the UK, the bank said in its annual report, according to CANA (June 7, 2000):
The increase in the gross domestic product (GDP) in member states ranged from less than 1% to over 8.7%. "Activity was especially strong in the services-oriented economies and was in response to high levels of investment in the tourism plant within recent years, with Anguilla, The Bahamas and the Cayman Islands being the main beneficiaries," the bank said;
