The House Colleges and Universities Academic Excellence Council moved a bill April 10 that would create new public law schools at Florida A&M and Florida International universities.
A number of representatives who voted for the measure, however, expressed reservations about the proposal. They said while they support creating a FAMU law school to address a historic wrong and to boost the number of minority lawyers, the bill has little chance of passing as long as the measure is tied to a second law school at FIU.
