Unico announced today that it has acquired Independent News, Inc., a freely distributed newspaper in northern New Jersey. Independent News has a circulation of 110,000, which it has built over the last 13 years and currently publishes two weekly editions and three monthly editions. The Independent News is located in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, and currently employs 15 people, as well as a group of outside writers who cover various local events.
