MICHAEL Schumacher turned grand prix racing on its head in Montreal - winning the race before it had started.

Schumacher has no need of help from any, but he was given it in large doses yesterday after his main challenger David Coulthard failed to get away for the parade lap and double world champion Mika Hakkinen went backwards when the lights went out.

As disasters go, McLaren could not have asked for more. All the momentum behind Coulthard's championship challenge disappeared ...
