Many of the newer studies of the War of 1812, such as this one, deal with neglected aspects of the war. What little attention traditionally has been given to Native American (the author prefers the term aboriginal) participation in the War of 1812 has focused on the western tribes. The author has mined a vast number of sources in order to piece together, from a largely inarticulate people, a reasonably coherent narrative of Iroquois participation on the Niagara frontier.
