Taurine started production in China in 1981. The taurine production has undergone great ups and downs in the recent 20 years. The market went to the bottom in 1998 and the output, sales volume and the market price all dropped to the historical lowest point. The taurine market managed to get out of the valley from the second half of 1999 and both the sales volume and the output had a stable recovery. Taurine is in brisk demand this year and producers are making full capacity production to meet the fast expanding market demand.
