Ghana's status as one of the brightest economic prospects amongst the world's developing nations has recently come under pressure. The depressed price for both gold and cocoa, Ghana's two major export earners, has knocked some of the gloss off its high flying stock exchange. The GSE is also experiencing liquidity problems, poor turnover and generally bearish sentiments, some of which is thought by analysts to reflect political uncertainty with President Jerry Rawling's last term of office drawing to a close at the end of this year and no obvious successor emerging.
