In anticipation of the major international events scheduled in Korea _ including the Asia-Europe Meeting in October and World Cup 2002 _ cultural events and festivals abound Korea throughout the year, making the county an attractive tourist destination.
The year 2001 has been specially designated as ``Visit Korea Year 2001,'' reflecting the government's will to boost the tourism profile of the country.
