Jun. 22--GULFPORT, Miss.--The Coast car rental business is booming, powered by the casino industry and a surge in travelers at Gulfport-Biloxi Regional Airport.
This month, Thrifty Car Rental opened a counter at the airport, becoming the fifth car rental firm with a sales counter. Another company, Budget Car and Truck Rental, moved its Biloxi office to a new, larger, higher-traffic location six weeks ago.
Thrifty outbid four other companies to get the airport concession.
