Five years ago, during the Gulf War, Sunita Staneslow of St. Paul played the harp at a concert in Jerusalem, a gas mask at her side. Her 2-month-old son napped in a small tent, "sort of like a gerbil cage," a gauzy bit of protection in the event of a poison-gas attack.

Next month, Staneslow will play her harp in St. Louis Park, for Jerusalem, at a concert to mark the 3,000th anniversary of the city's founding by King David. The city is dear to Staneslow, who grew up in Shoreview, and her husband, Fred Schlomka, who is from Scotland. They met in Jerusalem 10 years ago.
