THE East Coast of Australia is full of bars, not the kind that sell alcoholic beverages - there are those also of course.
The bars I am talking about are the sand bars that lie at the mouth of the rivers, rivers which provide safe haven for Breakaway, anchor down and a night's sleep.
The pilot books suggest you do not cross a bar without local knowledge. In Ireland we have a few sea bars also, the most notable being Strangford. It's name came from the Norse men of old, the Vikings, who called it the strong fjord.
