NICOSIA, Cyprus - Turkish Cypriot demands for international support in their campaign for autonomy have seriously damaged planned talks on the future of Cyprus sponsored by the United Nations, diplomats say.
Although U.N. officials are going ahead with plans for the so-called "proximity talks" scheduled for July 5 in Geneva, Greek Cypriot spokesman Michalis Papapetrou has warned, "We are not willing to participate in the talks for the sake of talks."
