SEATTLE _ He gets good grades in middle school, can read anything he needs or wants to and talks of becoming one of those professional word-wielders, a lawyer.
For 14-year-old Doug Stock, life today is a complete turnaround from the "total frustration" of his early school years, when his undiagnosed dyslexia made learning to read a near impossibility, says his mother, Pat Stock, of Mercer Island, Wash.
The reversal followed testing that revealed his learning disability and led to his enrollment in special reading programs for dyslexics, including a University of Washington study published last month and getting lots of attention.
