Marion Dougherty is one of those behind-the-scenes persons who is a legend in Hollywood but relatively unknown to the general public. Dougherty is universally acknowledged as having invented modern casting. During a career spanning most of the later half of the twentieth century (1950s-1990s), she has cast over a hundred Hollywood films, among them numerous Academy Award winners.
