NEW YORK-How the rugs will get here and what they'll cost remains to be seen, but it's a sure thing that the growth of the hand-tufted (gun-tufted) category will continue.
Lee Harounian, principal of Harounian Rugs International, pointed out that retailers, such as national department stores, home centers and specialty home furnishings stores -- companies that need to stock product for not one, two or 10 but hundreds of locations -- are having great success with hand-tufted rugs.
That success has attracted the attention of major domestic manufacturers -- Mohawk and Beaulieu are currently building import divisions -- which will likely reshape the business ...
