When Lear Corp. begins working on General Motors' Chevrolet Express LT and GMC Savana SLT vans in the fourth quarter, it will be the first time the company will install the complete interior of a vehicle.
Joe Zimmer, president of Lear's GM Division, said winning the GM project validates what the company knew all along: It has the expertise to design, engineer and install complete interiors to customer specifications.
Lear, Zimmer believes, is poised to create more niche vehicle interiors for customers.
