NEW YORK -- A good comedian knows that timing is everything. And now, apparently, so does the Council of Fashion Designers of Americas (CFDA).
By changing its format to a nominee system -- thereby creating a much-needed element of surprise -- and streamlining the awards presentation to a remarkably crisp one hour, the organization more than made up for last year's six-hour debacle.
