The retired surgeon and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Flavio Amongero of Wyoming, were gracious hosts on a sunny weekday morning.
We were invited to sit around a patio table sheltered by an awning after touring their other-worldly pool house. It may look roughly like a rectangle, but, upon further study, the roofline has two layers, a large skylight, even a big canopy held by an aluminum tension rod. And there are no sharp corners anywhere, the architect's signature.
More obvious, yet still surprising, are the polished mahogany boards inside and out, an undulating concrete floor perfect for both drainage and bare feet, oversize doors, sculptural plumbing ...
