BOSTON _ The Red Sox on Tuesday placed right fielder Trot Nixon on the disabled list because of a strained right hamstring, suffered during last Friday night's game in Toronto.
Manager Jimy Williams said the injury was healing, but that when Nixon tried to run Monday at Fenway Park, on an off-day for the team, he wasn't able to go all-out.
And with nagging injuries affecting other players, the Sox needed another healthy body, so they called up Morgan Burkhart from Pawtucket.
