Today, Union Township is merely one of 28 communities in Ohio sharing the same name.
But come Wednesday, this corner of southeastern Butler County becomes the one and only West Chester Township in the state.
A name change approved by township voters earlier this year goes into effect just after midnight tonight.
The change ratifies a name that has been informally used to identify the area for at least 50 years and is already displayed on the township's five fire stations, two of its ambulances and its road signs.
