THE Sunday Telegraph has been drawn into a Department of Trade insider-dealing inquiry into a share deal by millionaire investor Nigel Wray, after the paper tipped one of his companies.
DTI company investigations officials have been ordered to examine Wray's sale of [pound]2.6m-worth of shares in Columbus Group, where he is non-executive deputy chairman, last August a month ahead of a profit warning.
Wray sold 5m of his 7.5m shares in the publishing and mail-order company on 9 August while it was under a separate DTI investigation into complaints by customers of three subsidiaries that they had not received competition prizes or products.
