Wild general manager Doug Risebrough never considered anyone other than Jacques Lemaire. Jacques Lemaire would not have even considered working in Minnesota had it not been for Doug Risebrough.
The marriage of the two former teammates was made official Monday when Lemaire was named the first head coach of the Wild.
The two worked side by side as players in the late 1970s with the Montreal Canadiens. Now, together again, they will start a new era - the first era - in Wild history. Lemaire, 54, it is believed, signed a three-year deal worth $800,000 a year to do the one thing he can't get out of his blood: coach.
