A few weeks ago, a member of the Boston City Council created a sensation - and inspired a great deal of laughter across the country - when he suggested that the Red Sox could play at Nickerson Field while Fenway Park was being renovated.
The man's name is Michael Ross, and he is in his first term on the Boston City Council. That makes him a rookie. And I look at it this way: If Red Sox manager Jimy Williams could see the merit in showing patience with struggling rookie Trot Nixon last year, then shouldn't we show patience with struggling rookie Michael Ross?
