Telecommunications infrastructure equipment is rapidly decreasing in size. These smaller footprints allow telecom companies to deliver comprehensive coverage in remote locations. This may be accomplished by installing these devices in more environmentally vulnerable locations, such as to the walls of tunnels and buildings, rather than inside a controlled room or at the top of an antenna tower. These new opportunities to provide better service are accompanied by new challenges. As these units become smaller, they are more susceptible to external factors, such as vibration.
