Families are taking extra steps--and spending extra cash--to ensure clean drinking water and the major appliance industry is ensuring they do so.
"Quality of water has been a greater concern for consumers since they've been receiving water reports on their bill," Ray Bednar, general manager, GE, said. Many water companies inform their customers as to the quality of the water coming from the plant, and it's usually excellent, Bednar said. But contamination can occur when water enters a home via corrosive pipes.
Manufacturers hope to remedy the situation by incorporating water filtration systems into product.
