FIJI's president yesterday dismissed the government of prime minister Mahendra Chaudhry, who has been held hostage in the parliament building for the past 10 days.
President Ratu Sir Kamisese Mari said the move meant there was no need for the gunmen to keep the prime minister and 30 MPs hostage. They have been kept captive since failed businessman George Speight orchestrated a coup.
