Jul. 6--The last time the Triangle witnessed such a building boom for movie theaters, "Rain Man" and "Driving Miss Daisy" were hits, stadium seating was just about unheard of and 20-screen theaters were mere pipe dreams.
In the next two years, five new theaters - each with stadium-style seating and at least 16 screens each - are planned for the Triangle. If all are built, they'll add more than 80 screens to the 170 already here.
The new theaters are planned for retail and entertainment complexes. Durham's Streets at Southpoint and North Raleigh's Triangle Town Center will both feature a multiscreen theater. Brier Creek Commons in Northwest Raleigh is ...
