After serving about two weeks as interim Dane County district attorney, Brian Brophy was officially appointed to the post Wednesday by Gov. Tommy Thompson.
Following the announcement, Brophy, a former deputy district attorney, was sworn in by Chief Circuit Judge Daniel Moeser.
Brophy was appointed June 19 by Moeser to serve as interim district attorney, after Thompson picked Diane Nicks to fill the remainder of retired Judge Robert Pekowsky's term.
Brophy has worked in the district attorney's office for about four years and will serve until Nicks' term expires Dec. 31. His annual salary will be $94,173.
