His eyes light up at the mere mention of May 28, 1987 - the day Bob Milacki will remember more than any other in a lifetime of baseball.
Pitching for Class AA Charlotte as a 22-year-old Baltimore Orioles farmhand, Milacki threw 11 1/3 innings of no-hit ball, finishing with a 13-inning one-hitter and a 2-1 victory over Chattanooga. He needed only 96 pitches to get through 12 innings, even though he walked three batters. He threw 115 pitches in the game and rocketed to the top of the Orioles' prospect list.
"That game stands out for me," said Milacki, who is trying this summer to keep his career alive by pitching for the St. Paul Saints. "I couldn't do anything wrong. ...
