The music industry is suing the Web site which allows millions of users to trade music online for free.
Alleging widespread copyright infringement by Napster.com, two music industry associations cited a study showing an impact on CD sales near college campuses, where downloading a favorite artist onto a personal CD is proving popular.
The Recording Industry Association of America and the National Music Publishers Association. sponsored the study by the Field Research Corp. encompassing 2,555 college Internet-capable students.
